American Memorial in Montfaucon
The American Memorial in Montfaucon rises more than 60m above the ruins of the old village. The massive Doric Column of more than 50m in height is surmounted by a symbolic statue representing Freedom. It faces the 1st American Army frontline on the start of the 26th september 1918 offensive. From the top of the tower, a vast area of the Meuse-Argonne battlefields can be seen.
